March has flown by so quickly, and I want to continue having goals to accomplish over the month. Here are my 10 new monthly goals for April!
- Read the Art of Possibility
While I have been reading a variety of new content this past month, I still don’t think I’m reading enough compared to my reading habits previously. I want to finish reading The Art of Possibility by Benjamin and Rosamund Zander, as well as visiting my school or local library once a week.
2. Task Management
A habit I want to continue working on this month, is logging my tasks into Google Calendar. Knowing where and how much time I spend doing different activities can help me visualise what I’m putting my efforts into, and whether I need to focus on one thing over another.
3. Finish the Learning How to Learn course
My family friends and I are working through Barbara Oakley’s course Learning How to Learn. This 4 week course is taking us much longer than 4 weeks to complete, so I want to be able to finish the course by the end of April.
4. Practice my instrument for at least 30 minutes on Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday
I’ve found myself neglecting to practice my instrument, and this has meant that I haven’t really improved or worked on my music skills. I want to reconnect with my saxophone, and I am aiming to practice my instrument for at least 30 minutes on Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday.
5. Go on a walk at least 2 times a week
Other than school and Jujitsu, I don’t incorporate a lot of exercise into my daily routine. I want to go on walks at least 2 times a week, and give myself a break from school.
6. Instead of taking the bus, walk to school with friends
The last two weeks of Term 1, I started walking to school with two friends. We aren’t very close, but we all get along pretty well, and I’ve really enjoyed waking to school with them. This next month, I want to try avoid taking the bus to school, be socially active, and incorporate exercise into my routine by walking to school.
7. Pray every night to God and/or go to mass once a fortnight
I’ve slowly started reconnecting with God, and I want to continue praying every night and going to mass at least once a fortnight.
8. Jujitsu – Work on my left and right side roll
I have jujitsu training every Monday night for 2 hours. I want to specifically work on my breakfalls and rolls, especially on my kaiten ukemi (left and right-hand side rolls.)
9. Clean/Tidy my room once a week
I want to clean/tidy up my room once a week, so my room is in an organised state that’ll motivate me to be productive.
10. Avoid going on my phone for unnecessary periods of time (aka scrolling for hours on Pinterest when I’m bored)
I’ve noticed that when I’m bored, I usually go on Pinterest or Youtube and scroll for hours until I find something better to do. This habit is been really bad for my social, mental and physical health, as I find myself getting bad headaches often. I want to avoid going on my phone for unnecessary periods of time, and instead replace my boredom with reading, studying, or playing badminton.
