Oh my ducking goodness.
How did March go by so fast?! It’s crazy to think that not only has another month flown by, but we’re already 1/3 of our way into Autumn. And boy, has the weather gone HAYWIRE this month.
At the start of March, I wrote down 6 main goals that I wanted to achieve:
- Read 9 books
- Start reading Atomic Habits again – try and read a page or so a day
- Read everyday
- Practice self care EVERYDAY
- Write a note for my 2022 memento jar everyday
- Prioritise, prioritise, prioritise
- Make a weekly + daily schedule
- Write a to do list for each day
- Break down my assessments into doable parts
- Exercise everyday
- Walk to and from school
- Jujitsu Training
- Indoor Niagara
- Playing handball
- Workout everyday (Rest Thursday)
- Practice my instrument 4 days a week
- Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
- Fix my sleep schedule
- Go to bed by 10:45pm
And when I say this month was not it, it was definitely not it. This month, I barely stuck to my goals at all, and while that’s very unfortunate, I can’t do anything to change the past now. Instead, I can reflect upon what actually happened this month, what worked for me and what didn’t, and then improve for the month of April!
Read 9 Books: STARTED BUT INCOMPLETE
Sub-Goals:
- Start reading Atomic Habits again – try and read a page or so a day
- Read everyday
This month, I only read 3 books, which is significantly low compared to the past months. The reason for this is because I invested my time and was prioritising school above all the other aspects of my life, including reading.
I didn’t even pick up Atomic Habits by James Clear once, but I did start copy-writing/typing 100 Ways To Improve Your Writing by Gary Provost. I also started reading a lot of Wattpad novels 💀.
Here are the books I read in March:
- This is Where It Ends by Marieke Nijkamp
- Ace (Wattpad Novel)
- The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood
Practice self care EVERYDAY: UH POSSIBLY?
Sub-Goals:
- Write a note for my 2022 memento jar everyday
I think one of the most difficult things I’ve found is writing down how well I’ve actually stuck to my habits during the month. I couldn’t tell you if I actually did practice self-care every single day, but I know for sure that I didn’t write a single note for my memento jar.
Self care is really important, and I honestly do things for myself unconsciously, whether it be taking a hot shower or hugging a friend. This month has been difficult for me, especially because of how much time school has taken up in my life, further negatively effecting my mental and physical health.
Prioritise, prioritise, prioritise: GOD YES.
Sub-Goals:
- Make a weekly + daily schedule
- Write a to do list for each day
- Break down my assessments into doable parts
March was absolutely crazy when it came to school.
I could literally rant for DAYS about how shitty my school is when it comes to communicating with other faculties, but long story short: we end up having our assessments in the same 3 week blocks, and somehow, out of the 15 days, always end up having at least 2 assessments due on the same day.
I was definitely challenged when it came to assessments this month, especially because of how much pressure there was to do well. Since I’m in Year 10 this year, shit’s starting to get real, because all everyone talks about now is choosing our senior subjects and the HSC.
Although I had a few late nights, a few more breakdowns, and a hell of a lot of procrastination periods, I think I did a good job of prioritising my tasks. I made a habit of writing a to do list on notion everyday, and breaking down tasks into smaller, doable chunks.
Exercise everyday: OH HECK YEAHH
Sub-Goals:
- Walk to and from school
- Jujitsu Training
- Indoor Niagara
- Playing handball
- Workout everyday (Rest Thursday)
Your girl is still going strong and getting ’em gains 💪🏾!
I’ve been very active this month, and have had so much fun pushing my body. I also had a Jujitsu inter-training weekend just last week, where I got to train in Sydney with a handful of other dojos and people. It was honestly so much fun, and I learnt a lot about breathing, control, and power.
Practice my instrument 4 days a week: OOP, YEAH NO…
Sub-Goals:
- Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Like I said before, I have been prioritising school over everything else including music. I’m not sure what’s wrong with me, but I just haven’t been feeling motivated to practice my saxophone at home and this has reflected on my performance during my 1-on-1 tutorials on Thursday.
One of my favourite feelings in the world is when I’m performing with my band, because for once, I feel like I actually belong. Music has always been a safe place for me, and my heart yearns for that feeling of belonging again. I haven’t had an actual concert in over 2 years because of the pandemic, but if all goes well, I’ll have my first premier concert this upcoming Friday.
Fix my sleep schedule: uM, i’M wOrKiNg oN iT
Sub-Goals:
- Go to bed by 10:45pm
Heh, I stayed up till 12:30am one day this month because I was working on an assessment that was due the following day. Not good habits :/
I have been trying to sleep earlier, but it hasn’t been working out very well for me. It’s been affecting my mental and physical health a lot, so hopefully this month I can improve my sleep schedule.
