I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and that the idea of what’s right and what’s wrong can differ from person to person. Generally, doing the ‘right’ thing is an act that follows justice, the law and your morality, while doing the ‘wrong’ thing means not following them. However, doing the ‘right’ thing can also be justified by the consequences of your actions. Sometimes the consequences of your actions isn’t the best outcome, but as long as you have good intentions, you’re usually doing the right thing (according to you).
I strongly agree with Roy T. Bennett when he said ‘What one thinks is right is not always the same as what others think is right; no one can be always right.” Everyone’s idea of what’s right and wrong is slightly different, as everyone has been influenced differently by their surroundings, morals, values, beliefs, purpose and other people to believe that one thing is right while another is wrong.
I also believe that ethics help a person to decide whether or not they’re making the right decision. Ethics define the best option as the one which best achieves what’s aligned with your values, principles and purpose. Serena Valentino describes that your purpose or intention can affect the overall outcome of a decision through the quote “In the end, everything isn’t always as black-and-white as the markings on a Dalmatian puppy. Even for an evil thing like Cruella De Vil.”
