Honestly, it’s very easy for me, just like many others, to feel weak and negative about my own situation. It’s moments like these were I become oblivious to the reality of things, and I often find myself making a bigger issue out of things that start off small.
In these past 3 years of high school, I’ve certainly faced many challenges that have made me feel weak.
Here are some situations where I have felt especially weak:
- when I feel like I have no control over my life
- not being to express myself the way I want to
- when I get stuck in an uncomfortable situation
- not being able to cope in a hard situation
- when I don’t get a good mark/grade on an assessment
- depression
- new environments (& talking to new people)
In these situations, I often try and get away from people, spend some time to myself, and use coping mechanisms such as music to calm my emotions. I also experience really bad side effects of stress such as headaches, which makes things a lot more frustrating for me to deal with.
If you ever feel weak, know that hardships and challenges are necessary for you grow as a person. Weakness isn’t a flaw – it’s a sign that you are vulnerable and human. I highly recommend having a strategy for when you feel this way, whether it be spending time with your family or friends, talking to someone you trust, or writing/expressing your emotions and thoughts on paper.
