Hi guys! So… it’s been a bit since I’ve last blogged, and I’m sure most of you are pretty upset with my recent lack of blog posts. But I have a good reason for it, so hear me out. I wanted to give you all a quick life recap, since so much has happened since my brinc: university of newcastle visit blog!

Friday was my last day of school for term 2! I can’t even comprehend the fact that Year 10 is halfway complete, let alone the fact that I am in Year 10. Every year on the last day of Term 2, we have our annual school festival called Big Day In; a day full of events, stalls and food trucks organised by the Year 11’s and Year 12’s. At 1pm, we gathered back on the cola and then headed to our school hall for Gossies’ Got Talent – our school’s annual talent show. It was honestly such a great day and I had so much fun spending time with my friends!
In the evening, I had my Central Coast Conservatorium Premier Concert. It was actually my first official concert in 3 years, since I missed last term’s performance since I had Covid-19. I bought Gloria Jean’s Coffee and picked up some sushi for my friends, and then rushed to rehearsals at 3:45pm. After our rehearsal, my friends and I just chilled outside our venue and talked and ate. The concert went for 2 hours from 7:30pm – 9:30pm, but it was such an amazing and surreal experience!

On Saturday morning, we all woke up early at 6:45am to do some last minute packing and clean the house. Getting out of the house was slightly stressful, but we made it work. We went to our family friends’ house in Sydney and stayed there until 5pm. Our flight to Sri Lanka was originally at 4:10, but it got delayed twice, and ended up being almost 10 hours later at 10:25pm. It was very inconvenient for us, especially because we didn’t know what would happen in Sri Lanka and what time our connecting flight would be. However, Sydney airport gave us a $60 voucher to spend, so we ended up getting a whole course meal at the one and only McDonalds LMAO.
Our flight to Sri Lanka took almost 10 hours, but it all went by very fast – probably because I was sleeping for half of the trip lmaoo. The food sucked ass, and it was hard to find a comfortable position to sleep in. During that time, I thought that was the biggest struggle. But the real struggle was still yet to come…

Picture this: It’s 4:30am, and you have just gotten off a 10 hour flight to the middle of nowhere – aka Colombo, Sri Lanka. You are exhausted, and just want to sleep. Your mum and brother have been running a fever for most of the night (not Covid thankfully, but a fever none-the-less). Just as you think you’re that close to your final destination – Bangalore – you realise that your connecting flight has been cancelled. Oh, and the next flight is in 16 hours.
What a specific scenario, you may ask. Well, that was my experience travelling to India.
Besides the downsides of our journey, I got to experience some pretty unique things too! While waiting in the transit services line with my Dad, I saw and met 3 Indian Karens – and holy sheesh, they were so funny. All different types of Karens, but Karens none-the-less.
After waiting in line multiple times, we got a hotel room at The Tamarind Tree, and stayed there for a few hours. After one very shitty breakfast (the quality was literally the bare minimum; it was cold, and absolutely disgusting), lunch at the hotel was so good >>>>> I also slept for a few hours, which was much needed after a 10 hour plane ride in the most uncomfortable position.
We finally caught our plane to Bangalore, India at 6:45pm, and it was only a short 1.5 hour ride home. We claimed our bags, and went to find my uncle Sachin amidst the crowd of people and cars. We reached Sachin’s house at 9:30pm, and I soon fell asleep once we got home since jet lag was hitting me hard.
So that’s been the last couple of days for me! Sorry for not posting a blog post sooner, but internet and wifi was difficult to find so it’s taken me a bit to settle down and start my usual routines again. Stay posted for upcoming blog posts though! My family has got so many plans, but I don’t exactly know what they are yet LMAO.
Anyway thanks for reading loves <33
