And just like that, April has gone by! This month, I noticed that some of my goals were dependant on my mood and what day it was. Having specific and consistent goals is definitely something I need to work on these next few months.
I stuck to a few of my goals, such as –
- Walking to school everyday with or without friends
- Reading The Art of Possibility before April 20th
- Going on walks at least 2 times a week
- Praying every night/Going to mass once a fornight
- Working on my kaiten ukemi rolls for jujitsu
- Cleaning my room at least once a week
However, there were a few goals that I didn’t stick to in April, including –
- Task Management (updating google calendar)
- Practicing my instrument for at least 30 minutes on Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday
- Avoid going on my phone for unnecessary periods of time (aka scrolling for hours on Pinterest when I’m bored)
I’ve realised that the key to sticking to goals is to have 2-3 goals, instead of many. This is because habits tend to rely and affect one another, and as soon as one starts going downhill, it’s a cascading effect. We should all take baby steps towards a big goal, instead of having many goals and just ‘hoping for the best.’
The goals that I found the most important, were the ones I didn’t stick to. Music is something I’ve found myself drifting away from slowly, and I think it’s important for me to get back in the swing of things. Hopefully I can improve more and stick to my goals this month!
