We are all going through our own hardships. Not many people will talk about what they are going through, but everyone is going through something that challenges them.
I believe one of the most important things when going through a hard time, is having a strong support system.
There are always people who are by your side and will look out for you. These people are the ones who you will always go to when you need someone to talk to, and I believe that having a strong support system is very helpful.
Personally, talking to people about my hardships and problems that I’m facing is quite difficult. I don’t like opening up to people, even my family and best friends, because I’m constantly living in worry that people will see me as a problem or weak. I’ve learned the hard way, that this is not the case. Even though I know that these opinions about myself aren’t true, part of me thinks it’s true when I’m going through something tough.
Honestly, whenever I’m going through something, I usually distance myself off from other people, and I like to listen to music to make myself feel better. I’ll eventually open up to my best friend, and tell her the things that are worrying me, but people aren’t always my first refuge.
Having a good coping method is also very helpful, especially if you are by yourself and aren’t in a great mood. Some coping methods that work for me are writing and listening to music. I’m able to put my pain, hurt, anger – all my emotions, thoughts, and ideas into my writing, and I’ve written some powerful things in my ‘weakest’ state. Listening to music is another way I am able to cope with my emotions, and it always puts me in a better mood.
In the end, having a strong support system, whether it be your family, your best friends, or someone who’s just willing to listen, is very important. You shouldn’t bottle up your feelings or keep your troubling thoughts to yourself. You aren’t alone, and you will always, always have someone by your side.
