This past term, I took part in a STEM program called BRINC, which was an opportunity for girls to learn about biomechanics. My group was mentored by Professor Suzanne Snodgrass, and focused on improving music performance by specifically looking at posture and how sound is consecutively produced and influenced by one’s position.
Overall, it was an amazing experience in which I built new connections, learnt how to apply my knowledge from one subject to another, and learnt a lot about biomechanics and it’s influence on today’s society! I also got a lot of exposure into a different field, as well as a glimpse into life as a university student who may study biomechanics, or another area in the STEM field.
