A recent philosophy assessment got me thinking about my moral principles, and what they actually are. Moral principles (also known as moral imperatives) are principles and values that influence our decisions. In some situations, for example, a moral dilemma, we are put into a difficult situation and are forced to re-evaluate/choose one principle over another. By gaining something, we must also lose something, and this idea is seen through trade-offs.
Here are some of my own moral principles that I’ve identified in my own life –
- Valuing friendships
- Valuing relationships
- Valuing family
- Open communication
- Avoidance of confrontation
- Avoidance of conflict
- Help others
- Love people because of their personalities rather than looks
- Be kind to everyone
These are just a few of many principles that I have identified, and hopefully, I can identify and build more in the future!
