Another month, another new opportunity to write (and stick to!) some new goals. This morning, I started thinking about what sort of person I wanted to become, and the person I envisioned myself as. I think this was a great starting point since I wanted to write down my goals for this month, and self reflection really helps when you want to achieve something.
“Who I am right now? Am I happy with who I am? Do I want to change? In what aspects?”
These are just a few questions I started asking myself, and I recommend you do too.
Since lockdown, I’ve been focusing on myself more. I’ve been prioritising self care and the things that make me happy, such as my family, friends, reading and listening to music. These are steps that I’ve been taking, but to what?
What is my goal?
Often you will find yourself doing things and you trick yourself into thinking that you are “achieving” your goals, however, to achieve your goal, you must:
- Physically write it out,
- Ask yourself why you are doing this,
- And finally, the steps you can actively take to accomplish this goal.
You must also consider:
- If your goal is a long term or short term goal,
- Possible challenges that you may face along the way,
- And possible solutions to those problems
However, the most important thing is consistency. If you miss a day, that’s okay. Just make sure you don’t do the same thing the next day, and go back to your steps to achieve your goal. If you feel unmotivated, go back to your why. Why are you doing this? What’s your end goal?
