Welcome back to my monthly review! I honestly can’t remember everything that happened this past month. My brain is fried from the last 2 weeks of exams, which marks the half-way bench to THE HSC.
What the actual heck.
I’ve also been putting off writing this blog post for a while, mainly due to my sheer laziness but also because I’ve caught (what I believe) is the seasonal flu. Hence, the very late, and very overdue blog post.
memorable moments
- King Henry IV Play (March 12 2024): Our English Advanced course had the opportunity to travel to Seymour Centre in the City to view Shakespeare’s King Henry IV, which was our prescribed text for the term. It was a really memorable excursion, and the only one we’ve had for English ever! Both the actors for Hal and Hotspur were really hot, and I swear that’s the only thing everyone was talking about. There was also an impromptu moment during the battle scene, where the actors were sword fighting! A spark came off the swords, and the fire drill started going off, forcing everyone to evacuate the premises. Thankfully, we got to go back inside after 20 minutes and finish watching the play!
- Cat Cafe (March 12 2024): After the excursion, we had the option of being dismissed from the venue. Kevin, Meigo, Matt, Keith, Kaito and I all travelled to YUMIAO cat cafe in Waterloo, and got to interact with the cats! They were so so soooo cute, and they were all really tired and sleepy. Kevin has always wanted to go to a cat cafe, so I’m glad we were able to go with friends!
- Opera in the Arboretum (March 23 2024): The Central Coast Youth Orchestra (CCYO) performed with renowned world-class opera singers, and my brother is one of the cellists in the orchestra! It was quite amazing hearing all the music produced, and the singers & accompaniment were phenomenal.
personal achievements & goals
- Study, Study, Study: This month I’ve been really focused on preparing for my exams, and studying my ass off. I’m starting to get back my results and I think(?) that I have improved from last year. I’m no where near HSC ready, but I am improving and I think that’s what truly matters in the end. I’m been tracking my studying (kind of) by using my Notion Calendar to plan my week in advance, as well as taking photos of my study set up when I do study.
- Write summary notes everyday: I did this considerably well, especially in Economics! I’ve started watching more Atomi videos, and writing my notes as active recall questions, which can be easily converted to flashcards on Anki. I hope to use Anki more in the future as a studying and memorising tool.
- Blog every Saturday: I was pretty good at blogging, until my assessments started. I think that was bound to happen though, since that time is very busy for me. I hope to continue blogging more consistently in the future.
- Time-block every Sunday: Like I mentioned before, this has been going very well for me! It’s actually quite handy, as I can preplan my week and won’t be caught off-guard by upcoming events. This is definitely a tip I recommend to other students and will be continuing this habit in the future.
- Driving: I haven’t been driving as frequently this month, but I did drive on the freeway for the first time this month! I even drove the Triton, which was quite scary as I almost had a near encounter with a truck- I will definitely try to drive more this month though.
