Do you ever feel like you’re the side character in someone else’s story?
You have no contribution to the story, except for being the supportive best friend who carries the whole show but gets no recognition.
Sometimes it feels like I’m that side character.
We do so much for others. We give, and give and give, until there is nothing left to give. Our heart, mind, body and soul are theirs but they can’t see that.
Instead, we battle through things by ourselves. We hold ourselves up, putting the mask back on when we need to, no, want to be there for someone.
The mask isn’t because we want to lie. It’s because we don’t want to make you feel worse. We don’t want to become another problem you have to deal with. We want to be the person that we wish we had in our own lives.
We give and give and give.
Never once do we take.
And never once does someone offer.
